60!

http://earthhour.smh.com.au/

Was pretty cool to see the lights of all those banking buildings flash out while it was getting closer to 7:30. Even though I supposed the city to be more dark...And pretty strange event, when you look at the normal Australian life. They always want to make huge steps and change the world in one day by making laws that force people to use environment friendly bulbs (what's a cool thing of course) and they run shows all night long which tell the people how long they should shower and all that stuff. But on the other hand you'll get everytime you by a snickers (twix, mars, kitkat, bounty, etc...) a new plastic bag....so in my opinion it takes sometimes small steps to achieve on, large step...maybe the Aussies should think about starting with some small steps before trying to make a huge jump from the stand.

but now, enough with the sporting language ;) aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi!

mate, I've got a flat =)

Yeeaaaaaah. From Monday the 9th on you can visit me in my room at Bondi Rd, 3 mins from the beach, with great roof-terrace. So you're all invited for a BBQ next week ;)

Music!

Completely forgot to tell you last time...while I was at Bondi Beach last weekend, there was a kind of Rock Festival or something like that....some Rock Bands played right next to the beach. Pretty cool event I think. Cool Music, Sun, Drinks and that all for free :)

Next weekend is the V-Festival. But far to expensive and not my kind of music ;)

Adventure...=)

On Friday I had another wild and unbelievable adventure. I've been to the hairdresser. Maaaaaaan. Thought I'll try one of those 10 $ offers...yeah....uh. I've been at the hairdresser on the Central-Tunnel. The guy that tried to dress my hair (some kind of gay guy from puerto rico or sth like this, 1.50m tall...;) ) has spoken 10 times worse english than me. Even though I don't have a hard to do hair cut, it was quite har to explain how it should be like. And then...uh...the treatment...yeah...10 $ treatment ;-)

And what have I learned from this?

Next time I'll try the 10 $ offer 2 streets away ;-)

Cheers,

Sascha

Haven't formatted them yet...and these are just the ones I downloaded from the photo till now, but for those who wanted to see something ;)

Sydney

A new time ^^

So, boys and girls, friends and family and all others that follow my interesting life....

Here's one for the mathematics-freaks ;-)

Today the time has changed. You (the folks back home in germany) turned to summer-time. we over here in nsw turned to winter-time. sooooo. what's the time-difference now? You have 3 jokers left...

Beach Boy :)

Yeeeeeeeehaaaaa. After two weekends of exploring the city, I spent the whole day on Bondi Beach. Pretty cool, 'cause the day has been pretty hot. And just when the bus turned round the corner and I could see the ocean, I started to smile and haven't stop since ;) Ocean, Beach....what else does one need? (ok, there are one or two things ^^)...next time I'll have a look at Cooge Beach. Should be even cooler over there. So looking forward to...

Yesterday I walked from central station to the opera...and realized that I now know nearly every traffic light ;) I really start feeling home here and know exactly when I can cross the street without giving a *$&@ about those traffic lights or whether I have to take it serious ;) Then I sat down at the opera, looking at the water and the harbour bridge while the sun went down. Really great. Little cheesy, but cool :)
I wore a shirt with a german word on it....so a lot of germans who went by asked me "are you german?". Just said "no" ;-) But it's really hard to avoid germans over here. But not as hard as avoiding the tommys ;)

Then, the other day, while being at Darling Harbour, there was a musician sitting on the stairs and playing old cover songs from pink floyd, bon jovi, eric clapton etc....but was pretty cool sitting there, enjoying the nice breeze and good music. That's the way live should be :)

Work is gettin' better every day...so that's ok too....all I need is still a room and somebody who'll go with me to john mayer :)

That's it for now, so cheers ya'll :)

The Missing

Just came to my mind...this is what a lot of people keep asking me all the time..."don't you feel homesick or sth. like that...the first weeks are the hardest...?" and my answer is always: No way! Of course, there are some people that I'm missing. But that are really only a few...and I don't miss stuff like german tv, radio, events, wuerzburg or even volleyball (hey, I'm here at famous bondi beach ^^).

So, the few of you I miss, just come on over ;-)

Walking in Sydney...

Today has been the big day. Harbour Bridge birthday. And I have to admit, that old lady (I asume she's a lady ^^) seems to be in good shape. Hundreds of thousands of people walked over the Harbour Bridge today, wearing that yellow/green shiny cap and celebrating themselves and the bridge....looked pretty cool. Even though I have to admit that it sounds a bit weird, celebrating a bridge. But, at first, it is a really really impressive building. And when you're in front of it, you're really wondering how somebody could built something like that. And, at second, who cares if there is a reason to party? ;)
I started my Party-Walk at Darling Harbour where the first Entertainment Stage was located and then headed towards the Bridge (crossing the Rocks where the next entertainment section has been) and the Opera. And then all the way back, 'cause there have been a lot of cool events on my way. For example those street performers. Some of them have been really really cool (and some not ;) ). The two best have been Amy M. who puts herself into a 60 inch glass box (and did some other cool stuff) and Crazy Bruce who juggled knifes, torches (on a bed of nails) and made jokes about Germans (so did Amy - I don't know why ^^).
The weather has been pretty fine so far. A short shower but that was all...so cool celebration weather :)

Right now my feat are burning and I'm glad to sit here at everywhere internet (which is a pretty stupid name, 'cause there are only two cafes here in sydney ;-) ) But hopefully I won't have to come here very often. Tomorrow the guys from the flat in Darlinghurst will call me. Lets see what they tell me. And I'm going to have a look at a flat in Bondi Junction which sounded really cool too. So looking forward to the next week ;-)

And now...celebrate good times...come on :)

Rain Man ;-)

Right now it's raining outside....finally. The last 3 days have been over 30 degrees. Pretty cool uhm hot...but some water is a good idea today...'cause that will keep the irish away from the street ;-)

The last week passed by very very fast. again. And on Friday work started beeing a little more ambitious. So even work has gone by fast. At least on Friday ;-)

So what have I done this week? Hm...I've seen a lot rooms. Most of them have been really really terrible. It's a little harder to find a cool room than expected. But I won't take anything ;) On Thursday I saw a cool room. They will tell me if I get it on monday...lets see what happens...

Tomorrow is the Bridge's birthday. Big Party and all that stuff. Let's see how the Aussies party ;-)

Well, right now that I'm on the PC I don't remember what I wanted to tell ya all. Guess I should write it down the next time. I'm gettin old...but I still have to show my ID everytime I get into a Club or a Pub over here :D

So long...take care!

Tim Tams

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Please, put them all away. The coolest straws, that have ever been invented ;-) And the most addictive ones ;-)

weeekend

Finally the week has come to an end...has gone really fast. And the weekend itself went by just in seconds. Friday I met with Thomas. We had a drink at the 3 Wise Monkeys on George Street and talked about what everyone of us has done and seen till now. Was pretty cool to hear some other impressions.

Yesterday I met with Tine and Chrissy. They touched down Friday night and had one day here in Sydney before they went on with their journey through Australia this morning. And we did a loooooot of walking ;) Started at Town Hall...passed Hide Park, headed down to the Botanic Garden. Sat down, had brekkie and a marvelous view at the opera and the harbour bridge. and that was our next destination. so we went on to see those 2 very impressive buildings. it was really great standing in front of these 2 and seeing them live. Then we headed through some narrow and small roads (adventure part ^^) till we came back to Circular Quay and The Rocks. After walking through the Rock's Market, we headed back to Pitt Street and went to the Sydney Tower where we had an impressive look from the tallest building in Sydney all over this fantastic city. On the one side you could see the blue mountains and on the other side you have the ocean. Also in the tower we had a 3D Adventure ride through Australia...this was...uhm...nice ;) After returning to the ground, we went to Darling Harbour where we had dinner and a nice time near the water :) Afterwards we went back and the girls had to buy their stuff they need for their journey today...then they went to their hostel in order to pack their bags and all that. while waiting for them, I met with Steffi and Norman (who are both friends of the girls too) and guided them to the hostel. Then we 5 went on to have a drink in an irish bar somewhere between george and pitt st. pretty live music :) Then I got home...I guess ;)

During the whole weekend, Lachlan (blonde, blue eyes), Andrew's son, stayed at home in Chatswood. He's 4 years old and that damn cute. unbelievable. Had a nice time having some car races with him (I lost almost every time... ;) ). looking forward seeing him again :)

Right now I'm still looking for some rooms...hope I'll find one soon....

That's it for now...cheers!

summer in the city

Hey there! Back again in the i-net-café...so time for an update ;)

Visited a share-flat yesterday. oh my goodness...looked so nice in the add...and then...about 25 m² with, I guess, 4 doublebeds...maaaaaan...get me outta here...today I phoned again for some flats...hope that will be better...

Tomorrow I'll meet with Steffi and her boyfriend...'cause chrissy and tine (our together mates) are going to touch down in sydney this night and we're going to go the beach or sth. like that tomorrow.

What else do I have to say? Hm...pretty much, but there's no time right now...will tell you more when I have my own i-net :)

Oh...before I forget...pictures are sure to come...no worries...;-)

so far...c'ya

Home and so

After Sophie and Andrew picked me up, just went home, had a shower and then got to bed...sleeping. yes :)

3.3: get up at about 10...breakfast with bretzels...had a nap and then...mardi gras...uh! strange, weird and much more. the biggest one ever...bettern than "Fasching" in germany ;-) On the way to the city, had a little sightseeing while watching out of the train's window (harbour bridge, opera house). And then...when mardi gras was over and we returned home at chatswood we went to the pub...and Andrew couldn't believe that I'm a german that doesn't like beer...that's what he had to tell the bartender...haha...and then..he brought a "shandy" ("that's what my mum's drinking...") or sth. like that. half beer, half lemonade...and I had to drink it. And afterwards, the next one..(after he told the next bartender that I am a german that doesn't drink beer...). So second day in Australia and I'm an alcoholic...where should this end? ;) Then returned home at about 1 'o clock, talked a bit about music and went to bed at about 2...and slept untill quarter to 12...

4.3: Breakfast, Emails (still need something to go online with my laptop...)...writing this here and then do some shopping at the mall...and preparing for the first day at office...
Just wrote Steffi & Thomas...maybe we can meet this week. would be cool :)

Enough for today...tomorrow more about my exciting work ;-)

cheers :)

long time ago ;-)

Sohooo....here I am now....time to tell you sth ;-)

But lets start on the beginning....

March 1st: Flight FFM - Bahrain. But before the flight started I got my first surprise: The lady on the counter told me that she can't find me one the flight from Bahrain to Sydney...uh! sweating! swearing and all that...but after a few mins and some phone calls, all was good...so lets get it on...

Got a window-seat..but due to the fact it was a huge airbus, that was pretty much ok and I had a lot of space. Neighbour was quiet, so no problems during flight. nearly ;-) First the pilot told us that due to good winds we'll only need 5 hours to Bahrain, but during the push back, the push back wagon had a steering problem and so it took 6 hours, like expected before. Don't mind! What else? Hm...got a lot of food, nice stewardess' nice movies (two and a half man, war at home...sitcom time ;-) and rocky balboa).

Bahrain Airport: woah! Pretty much people looking like sheiks...showers in the toilett rooms and pretty much gold and all that stuff...really nice personel but also heavy guarded police...but really impressive...flight was 35 mins delayed. no problem. time to walk :)

2.3. Bahrain - Singapore: New Plane, new seat. 34 E. Right in the middle. damn! But lucky me...no fat people around me...but a crying arabian baby right in front of me. forget sleeping! on the right side of the guy right beside me there was an empty seat...but that guy didn't want to move...cause he had no boarding pass for that seat...yeah! typical german! Again nice personell, much food (thai chicken ;) ) And we were going further and further away from mekkah ;-)
TV: James Bond, Deja Vú. yeah ;)

Singapore Airport: woaaaaaah! Even much cleaner than Bahrain...clean, cool and safe. A new security check...and again, very friendly...but with bollywood movies on the screen...get me outta here ;-) Then, on board again, the baby was still cryin'...but don't mind...only 7:30 hours to go ;-)

Singapore - Sydney: Sleeping, Eating, Drinking....TV: Night at the museum, Cars...

Sydney Airport: Yes! I'm here! but....first...que at the passport control...about 45 mins of waiting...friendly guys there...then baggage claim and then again waiting for the security check...but then...I am here :)

dududududu....down under lalala....where women glow and man plunder...;-)
